My good friend Rachel who I first met whilst working on a food and drink magazine has a long list in the back of her notepad of foodie places she wants to visit and each time we meet we try and tick another one off her list. This time it was Love Thy Neighbour on Bold Street in Liverpool.
As I saw my destination nearing on google maps I looked up from my phone and saw the painted pink outside wall with the beautifully written “Love Thy Neighbour” painted on it and I just had to take a photo!
Love Thy Neighbour is a cafe, smoothie and cocktail bar serving delicious food that makes you feel good. As you enter the building you immediately feel a sense of calmness and serenity by the bright open space, pastel colours and exposed painted white bricks with trendy art on the wall with phrases such as “Avocado is Bae.”
All dishes and smoothies are organic and there are plenty of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu. We started off with a freshly blended smoothie and juice whilst we pondered over the menu. Rachel went for the chickpea pancakes with poached eggs, smoked salmon and avocado which I ended up getting huge food envy over! But my grilled halloumi, sweet potatoes and cous cous luckily was very tasty too. The portions are very generous and we left feeling very satisfied!
On our way back down Bold Street Rachel introduced me to recently opened Artisane bakery. Looking through the large glass windows to see the most impressive range of baked pastries, tarts and croissants there was no way we were just walking past! We were both intrigued by the “bear paws” which were a croissant style pastry dipped in chocolate and filled with a pear custard which I took home and later demolished, it was absolutely divine!
